How to Make Watermarks in Lightroom (2022)

A watermark is a faint totem or words superimposed on top of an image. The idea of having a watermark on your prints is to help others from trying to copy and use the print without authorization. Although a watermark represents you as the creator of your print, it would not stop someone from clumping it, no matter how big or bold you make it. Also, if you cover the entire image with a distracting totem, you compromise the visual impact of the shot.

How to Produce a Watermark in Lightroom

To start the Watermark Editor from any module in Lightroom, go to the top menu and select Lightroom> Edit Watermarks (Mac) or Edit> Edit Watermarks (PC).

To produce a textbook-grounded watermark, find ” Watermark Style ” at the top right of the Watermark Editor panel and click the ” Text ” button.

Type the textbook for your watermark in the textbook editor box under the exercise window.

Select a fountain from the dropdown menu.

Elect a Style for the fountain( Regular, Bold, Italic, etc.). Not every fountain has multiple styles.

Choose the alignment for your textbook. It only applies to textbook lines, not the image’s watermark alignment.

Choose the colour for your fountain by clicking the small, blockish colour icon.

There are five various icons at the top of the colour chooser box, which toggle colourful styles for opting for colour. I generally stick with the first icon on the left wing, the RGB colour wheel.

Click anywhere on the wheel to set the fountain colour. The grade slider beneath the wheel darkens or brightens the available diapason.

The presently named colour is displayed in a ” belt ” at the bottom of the window. Drag that colour to one of the lower tapes on the right to save it for an unborn watermark.

The eye dropper samples colour directly from the print. To match a colour from your print, snare the eyedropper and click directly on the asked colour in your picture.

Choose the nebulosity of your watermark by moving the nebulosity slider. A value of 50 or lower is stylish.

Acclimate the Size of your watermark. Either spark the ” Commensurable ” button in the “Size; ” section of the panel, and acclimate the slider below, or go to and drag directly on one of the corners of the watermark in the exercise window.

Click inside the ” Anchor ” icon at the nethermost left wing of the Watermark goods panel to put your watermark at the top, bottom, centre, left, or right. The near ” Rotate ” arrows change the exposure of the watermark.

Acclimate the vertical and perpendicular ” Inset ” sliders so that the watermark isn’t mashed up against the edge of the print.

To watermark using a totem or other graphic, find the ” Watermark Style ” area at the top right of the Watermark Editor, and spark the ” Graphic ” button. Alternately, click on the ” Choose ” button in the Image Options section of the Watermark Editor. In the preceding cybersurfer, navigate to the asked PNG or JPG totem image.

The Text Options panel will be coloured out, but all of the tools in the Watermarks goods panel remain accessible.

Saving Watermark Presets

When your watermark is ready, go to the Save button at the bottom of the Watermark Editor. In the New Preset dialogue box, identify your watermark by name. I generally name the preset commodity like ” totem LR ” to describe the content and position of the watermark.

Exporting With Watermarks

In the Library, select the images to export, click on the Import button, or go to train> Import.

You can apply watermarks to one image at a time or multiple images contemporaneously, but you can’t elect different watermark locales for each image in a batch import. Go to the arrows at the top of the Watermark Editor lets you toggle through multiple images to ensure the placement looks right on each one.

Produce a Brand Watermark

In any module, click Edit> Edit Watermarks( Windows) or Lightroom Classic> Edit Watermarks( macOS).

In the Watermark Editor dialogue box, choose a Watermark Style Text or Graphic.

Do either of the following for the Text watermark setting in Lightroom Classic.

Text watermark) Type the textbook under the exercise area and specify the Text Options fountain, style, alignment, colour, and drop shadow. OpenType sources aren’t supported.

Graphic watermark) Select the Image Options pane and navigate to and choose the PNG or JPEG you want to use.

Size

Commensurable scales the watermark larger or lower. Fit sizes the watermark across the range of the print. Fill sizes of the watermark to fill the length and range of the print.

Repositions the watermark horizontally or vertically in print

Anchor the watermark to one of either nine anchor points in the print, and rotate the watermark left or right.

Click Save.

Manage Brand Watermarks

In any module, select Edit> Edit Watermarks( Windows) or Lightroom Classic> Edit Watermarks( macOS).

Still, click the Left and Right navigation arrow buttons to exercise the watermark on each print if you have multiple prints named in the Filmstrip.

Choose Save to save the current settings as a preset and exit the Watermark Editor. To save the watermark and want to continue working in the Watermark Editor, click the menu( in the window’s upper-left corner) and select Save Current Settings As New Preset. Type a name or anything in the New Preset dialogue box and click produce.

To select a watermark, select it in the preset menu in the window’s upper-left corner.

To edit a watermark, select it in the preset menu and change the settings. Also, click the preset menu again and choose Update Preset( name).

To brand a watermark, choose it in the preset menu, click the menu again and choose Rename Preset( name).

To cancel a brand watermark, choose it in the preset menu also, click the menu again and choose to cancel Preset( name).

You apply a watermark to your prints as you EXPORT or publish your prints online. You will not see the watermark on your images while outside Lightroom.

Specific Lightroom Modules( print, web, and slideshow) allow you to use watermarks while creating those Modules.

To begin creating your watermark, elect” Edit Watermarks” from the Edit menu if you’re on a PC.

Step 4. Save the Watermark in the Lightroom

When you have completed creating your watermark, click the” Save” button and give your train an original name so you can find it fluently. Once saved, it’ll be available in any Lightroom module that allows you to use a watermark, including during import AND when using Lightroom publish services.

Keep in mind that there’s no limit on how numerous watermarks you can produce( as far as I know). So if you wish, you can make many different watermarks for different uses.
